Sporadic murmurs and other pomegranates from a one-way street

Review: The Time Machine and The War of the Worlds

The Time Machine and The War of the Worlds
The Time Machine and The War of the Worlds by H.G. Wells
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Finally heard the original. Wish I had read it decades ago. The book is so much better than the films that have attempted to bring this classic to life. Mr. Wells’ social commentary is definitely lost in the screen adaptations. A must read/listen.

  1. Not read this either. Will check out the library.

    • Picked the wrong edition. Just listened to WOW. Tried to correct mistake but too difficult in Goodreads. Have both the 1938 Orson Wells Mercury Theater and 1988 NPR 50th anniversary production somewhere in my collection. Certainly better than the films.

Still working on finding the right combination to approve comments and make replies to WP on my iPad. Comments partially hidden in email and app does not do enough. (most likely need to spend more time using it.) May try Blogsy when the price 5$ falls. And now have forgotten how I got here due to extended interruption. must bookmark it right now.
