Suzy’s Adopt Her Peeps Day

It was five years ago today that a nine year old ragamuffin dog adopted us. Suzy has been the apple of our eye ever since. Of course she has us well trained and we happily take her whims in stride.

She does a great job tending Mum's iris garden in front. It takes time and energy and Suzy expects to be well paid for her effort.

We love you Suzy and thank you for your gracious tolerance of our human ways.

First Iris

Last week brought our first iris of the season. It is called an Orange Popcicle. Here a photo of the blossom before two days of 25+ mph winds redesigned it a bit.

Expecting our Golden Ecstasy to bloom soon.

Blooming Winter Iris

Given all the weird weather we have had this winter, it is amazing that some of our iris have been blooming since December. The are “rebloomers” but in winter? Nice to have the color in the front yard. They are still going strong today (23Feb11). They may be wearing a cloak of snow this weekend if the forecast is correct.

Christmas Iris

Suzy and the iris. 10Feb11

It was a very nice day today.

Perfect.

A very nice reblooming iris from Pleasants Valley Iris Farm.

Our Orange Popsicle Iris is just beginning to show color. Looking forward to seeing this rebloomer.

Pleasants Valley Iris Farm is a great place to visit and owned and operated by very nice people.

Bloomin’ Rebloomers

We are excited. Two of our rebloomer iris are reblooming, even if Suzy sat on one and broke the stalk. The growers said they have yet to have this happen on their farm for this variety. Not the dog sitting part.

A reblooming “Midnight Caller”.

Will be getting ready to plant our newly arrived iris in several weeks.
