The Original Avengers (The only Avengers worth their salt)

The television series began in 1961 on ITV (produced by ABC Television) starring Ian Hendry (Dr. David Keel) and Patrick Macnee (John Steed). Hendry left after the first year and Macnee became the leading man. Through the next eight years Steed was assisted by female partners Honor Blackman (Cathy Gale), Diana Rigg (Emma Peel) and Linda Thorson (Tara King) and briefly Julie Stevens (Venus Smith) and Jon Rollason (Dr Martin King).

We watched this program religiously as teenagers. It was campy and most importantly British. It was a staple for many kids.

The present day faux Avengers have nothing on Steed and his associates. They were the real deal.

The Future Is Written

An incredible thought provoking series of five CBC podcasts that delve into climate change and how it is presently affecting and will affect future water supplies, food production, weather, human activities, energy production/use, wildlife, cities and numerous other critical aspects of British Columbia. In reality the consequences of climate change affect us all. This ‘may’ be our future. Perhaps our future is already written.

I will see little of the effects which will change the way people will live. I wonder what our son, his wife and our four year old grandson will experience. It could be an amazing era or a depressing period of human cultural evolution. Wish I could witness more of the coming changes. Changes that will occur. All we can do is modify the coming events.

These podcasts are an important insight into the future. The future predicted by the crystal ball has and will become reality.

Fire And Fury

Is that the 50s movie about the horse named Fury and how he saves the Broken Wheel Ranch from an approaching fire?
‘Fury’ was a kid’s TV program in the 50s starring Peter Graves and Bobby Diamond.
Just wondering. 🙃

Pay For the Paper Privilege

A wonderful idea that needs to be required everywhere. Pay more or use your own cup. Many carry their own reusable water bottle so why not a coffee/tea container. Take responsibly.

Just Say No To Fireworks

As you ooh and aah at the fireworks this New Year’s Eve just remember the the particulates and heavy metals in the smoke and the plastic and other pollutants that are spread across the environment and pollute the air you breathe. Try to remain out of the clouds of smoke. If your local community does not care about the environment and the health of their citizens take action to inform your representatives of the dangers of fireworks and the much better alternatives. Synchronized drones, laser shows and White Night Festivals sans pyrotechnics are much better and safer alternatives.

Best Christmas Films

Watched ‘A Christmas Story’ (1983) this afternoon. Melinda Dillon and Darren McGavin were the perfect parents for the film. He was so much like my dad. In addition to ‘A Christmas Carol’ both (1938) and (1951) I consider these the best Christmas films ever. ‘A Christmas Story’ is so much like my childhood. We even had the Fiestaware dishes and coal furnace. Made me both laugh and cry. Very nostalgic.
